They explained as to how the conduct of the Bodu Bala Sena and its General Secretary was jeopardizing Buddhists and Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

The meeting was strictly prohibited to media.

Meanwhile, Minister Mervyn Silva told the Mahanayake Theras that Gnanasara Thera’s behavior was not suitable for a Busddhist monk.He said it was on that grounds that he decided to take part in the meeting.

Asian Mirror, just a few days ago, reported that a group of ministers of the government had decided to form a common front against the Bodu Bala Sena and its General Secretary. The meeting, as Asian Mirror learns, is the first major step in that direction.

During a meeting with Gnanasara Thera last week, Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera, Mahanayake of the Malwatte chapter, urged the BBS General Secretary to avoid fights with ministers and resolve issues amicably through discussion.

Minister Senaratna had already filed legal action against Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera.
