Rosy Comes Under Fire For Spending Rs. 5.7 Million To Renovate Toilets At Her Official Residence

New Mayor of Colombo Rosy Senanayake has come under severe pressure on social media for spending Rs. 5.7 million for renovation of toilets at her official residence.

Many critiques held the view that spending Rs. 5.7 million to renovate a toilet was "unnecessary". She has also come under fire over the same matter from opposition members of the Colombo Municipal Council.

However, a source close to Senanayake said the toilets of the Mayor's official residence had not been renovated for four years.

"It is not a personal property. It is a public property and it is the new Mayor's duty to renovate the toilets," he said.

" The toilets were in a dilapidated condition at the time the new Mayor took over," he explained.
