The Police used teargas and water cannons to disperse university students protesting near the Parliament roundabout. 

They were protesting over SAITM and the new Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Act. 

As a result of their protest, heavy traffic was reported in Colombo and suburbs this morning. 

Before commencing their protest, the students supported by the Inter-university Students Federation (IUSF) marched  to Battaramulla from Colombo.
