A member of the Colombo Municipal Council has been shot dead a short while ago. 

The shooting had occurred at Sea Street, Petta. 

The deceased, Krishna Pillai Gurubanandan, is an Independent Group member of the CMC. 

He was 40 at the time of his demise. 

This is the second shooting incident in Pettah that took place within 24 hours.
