SLFP General Secretary Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa's term ends this week, party sources said. 

He was appointed for 45 days to initiate and implement party reforms. 

Commenting on the matter, a senior party spokesman said no decision had so far been made on the new General Secretary of the party. 

Speculation is rife that former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera, a member of the SLFP '16 group' would be appointed the new General Secretary. 

Speaking to media recently, Jayasekera said he was willing to take up the General Secretary post.
