Court Allows CID To Detain 'Navy Sampath' Till Tomorrow And Question Him On Killings Of 11 Tamil Youths

Court today allowed the Criminal Investigations Department to detain 'Navy Sampath' till tomorrow and question him further on the abductions and killings of eleven Tamil youths in Colombo.

An absconding suspect in the case, Chandana P. Hettiarachchi aka 'Navy Sampath' was arrested by the CID this morning.

At the time of the arrest, Sampath had been employed as a watchman at an estate in the Dompe area. 

He was previously a Lieutenant Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Police said the suspect had changed his appearance to avoid arrest. The Polcie had also recovered a forged ID in his possession. 

'Navy Sampath' is also a suspect in the murder of former TNA Parliamentarian Nadaraja Raviraj.
