September 18, 2018

Manager of the Sri Lanka Cricket team Charith Senanayake apologized to the public over the manner in which his team played in the Asia Cup series.

“Perhaps the hardest bus ride ever. Return from Abu Dhabi, extremely unpleasant and absolute torture," Senanayake said, explaining the sentiments within the Sri Lankan unit after the humuliating defeats against Bangladesh and Afghanistan, the newest test playing nations of the ICC.

"No words to express the feeling insideand  the disappointment. Guess the return back home, even worse, Sincere apologies to all the fans," Senanayake also said.

Many former Sri Lankan cricketers, commentators and critiques  have already expressed disappointment with the performance of the national cricket team.

In both matches, the Sri Lankan team failed to get past 160 runs in batting-friendly conditions.

After a dismal performance with bat and bowl, Sri Lanka was knocked out of Asia Cup yesterday, in less than three days after the first match of the tournaments.

This was the first time Sri Lanka, five time winners of Asia Cup, crashed out of the tournament without even playing against India and Pakistan.
