President's Supporter Rathana Thera Says Allegations Against RAW Not Unfounded: Calls For Caretaker Govt. Without Delay

National list Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera, now an associate of President Maithripala Sirisena, said the President should form a Caretaker government soon.

Speaking to media today, Rathana Thera said the current government has created an unprecedented level of political instability in the country and is in the process of selling national assets to foreign powers.

"The longer they remain in power, the more assets they will sell," he said.

The Parliamentarian also said there would be an extensive investigation into the alleged conspiracy to assassinate President Sirisena." Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said four ministers were working with RAW. The minister may have found some evidence to substantiate his claims. The President has talked about a conspiracy by RAW to kill him. If the President gets assassinated, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will become the new President. Why does India want to make Ranil Wickremesinghe the Prime Minister? These are the matters that need to be investigated."

"A senior Police officer has been arrested over the conspiracy. There are some references to the IGP too. This has created a strong sense of uncertainty in the country," he said.

The Parliamentarian said the President had the "strength" to form a Caretaker Government and he should strive to form one without further delay.
