UNP Begins Demonstration In Colpetty: Large Number Of Party MPs, Supporters, Civil Society Activists Attend Protest

The United National Party has started a demonstration against the appointment of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the new Prime Minister of the country. 

A large number of Parliamentarians, party supporters and civil society activists are currently taking part in the protest. 

Addressing the protest, former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said it was not difficult for the UNP to teach a lesson to President Maithripala Sirisena. 

Party sources said UNP Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would also address the demonstration in the evening. 

Meanwhile, the Colombo Additional Magistrates Court issues injunction order prohibiting UNP demonstration in Colombo from taking place in a manner inconveniencing the public and disturbing peace
