UNP Group Submit Letters To IGP Demanding Restoration Of Security For Ranil Wickremesinghe And Members Of His Government

November 06, 2018

UNP's Nalin Bandara, the Law and Order Deputy Minister of the Ranil Wickremesinghe government, has submitted a letter to IGP Pujith Jayasundara requesting to restore the security of the country's "lawful" Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Meanwhile, two UNP stalwarts Daya Gamage and Palitha Thewarapperuma have also submitted letters to the IGP demanding the security that was withdrawn from them.

In their letters, they had stated that Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had recognized Ranil Wickremesinghe and his government as the "lawful and constitutional" administration in the country.

They said the IGP should be held responsible for the threats to their lives.

Wickremesinghe's Cheif of Staff Sagala Ratnayaka also sent a letter to the IGP, last week, requesting the restoration of Wickremesinghe's security.
