Malwatte Mahanayaka Thera In A Letter To President Requests To End Anarchy By Upholding Parliamentary Tradition And Constitution

Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter, Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, writing a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena, urged him to ensure a stable government in the country by upholding Parliamentary traditions and adhering to constitutional provisions. 

The Chief Prelate also laments that the country has fallen into a state of anarchy due to diverse and conflicting opinions expressed by various parties, including the international community over the appointment of a new Cabinet recently. 

He also said every aspect of the country, including the state machinery, has come to a grinding halt due to increasing political instability. 

The Chief Prelate opines that the current political crisis should be resolved by convening Parliament and taking constitutional measures to form a stable government. 

He also states that the political crisis should be resolved without compromising the political integrity and ethical frameworks.
