UNF MP V. Radhakrishnan has been appointed the non-Cabinet minister for Special Area Development. 

Speaking to the media, Radhakrishnan confirmed that he took oaths before the President this morning. 

Radhakrishnan, a member of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) supporting Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe,  is the fourth non-Cabinet minister in the current UNP-led government. 

He was overlooked when the non-Cabinet, state and deputy ministers were appointed last month. 

Political sources said Radhakrishnan was disappointed with his "unanticipated exclusion."
