TNA Envoy To Meet Narendra Modi On Saturday

Five members of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on August 23.

Sources told Asian Mirror that the delegation led by R.Sampanthan will depart from Sri Lanka today.

The delegation includes TNA Leader R Sampanthan, TNA Media Spokesperson Suresh Premachandran, North Chief Minister C V Wigneswaran, MP Mavai Senathirajah and Selvam Adaikalanathan.

This will be the TNA’s first official visti after Prime Minister Narendra Modi got elected as the Indian Prime Minister.

At its first meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, the TNA is likely to discuss a host of issues, including Indian government’s role in urging Colombo to devolve more powers to the Northern Province and militarization of the Northern Province.

The TNA delegation is expected to meet the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

TNA has told Indian media that after the visit, they are likely to follow up on its earlier request for a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
