Chief Incumbent Of Gangaramaya Temple Gnanissara Thera Admitted To Mt. Elizabeth Hospital: PM Sends Sagala To Singapore

Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya temple in Colombo. Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thera, fondly known as "Podi Hamuduruwo" has been admitted to Mount. Elizabeth hospital in Singapore. 

Sources close to the temple said the Buddhist monk's condition was serious. 

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had today sent his Chief of Staff, Minister Sagala Ratnayaka to Singapore to speak to the doctors treating the monk. 

Gnanissara Thera, one of the most influential Buddhist monks in the country, was ill for several weeks and remained under close medical attention in Colombo. 

He had been sent to Singapore for extensive medical care as there was no visible improvement in his condiction.
