Mangala's Committee On Transforming State Media Into Public Service Media Has No Working Journalists: Also Neglects Tamil Media

No journalists or representatives of media organizations have been appointed to Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera's committee to on state media. 

The seven-member committee only comprises only theorists and activists who have no working experience in the field of media. 

At the same time, no member of the committee represents the Tamil media - a vibrant section of Sri Lanka's media landscape. 

The committee is chaired by Vijayananda Jayaweera while Prof. Jayadeva Uyangoda Dr. Pradeep Weearasinghe, Dr Anoma Rajakaruna, Sudarshana Gunawardana, Nalaka Gunawardana and Kaushalya Fernando function as its members. 

It is entrusted with the task of making recommendations on transforming state media into "public service media".
