Dullas Alahapperuma Admits Opposition Not In A Position To Defeat Budget At Third Reading Vote On April 05

UPFA MP Dullas Alahapperuma admitted that the opposition was not in a position to defeat the budget at the third reading vote on April 05.

Addressing a press briefing in Battaramulla, Alahapperuma said the opposition could not defeat the budget as the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) had become servants of the UNP.

Alahapperuma said the TNA would protect the government at ang cost, as the latter co-sponsored the UNHRC resolution on Sri Lanka last week.

The Tamil National Alliance, the largest Tamil party in the North, has 14 seats in Parliament .

The government won the second reading vote of the budget with a resounding majority of over 40 votes earlier this month with a section of SLFP MPs deciding to abstain from voting.
