Unusually Long Power Outages Experienced In Some Areas Today: CEB Says Kerawalapitiya Malfunction Resulted In Longer Power Cuts

Many electricity users have complained on social media that they are experiencing longer power outages than last week.

It was reported that some parts of Sri Lanka today experienced power outages that lasted nearly five hours.

According to CEB's 'official' schedule, daily power outages do not exceed four hours.

When contacted, CEB sources admitted that some parts of the country experienced longer power outages today and attributed the new development to a breakdown in the Kerawalapitiya power plant.

They added two generators at the Kerawalapitiya power plant malfunctioned today due to a shortage of Diesel.
