Gota Due To Return To Sri Lanka On April 12: Allies Say Former Defence Sec Will Celebrate New Year In Sri Lanka With His Family

Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is due to return to Sri Lanka on April 12, sources close to him said.

They added that the former Defence Secretary would celebrate the Sinhala-Tamil new year in Sri Lanka with his family.

The former Defence Secretary is currently in the US on a personal visit. In an unanticipated development, legal action has been filed against Rajapaksa in the US Court over his conduct as the Defence Ministry Secretary in Sri Lanka between 2005 and 2015.

Rajapaksa was served notice today on two separate cases; the murder of former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga and torturing Roy Samathanam, a Tamil Canadian who was under the custody of the TID during Rajapaksa's tenure as the Defence Secretary.

Rajapaksa was reportedly served notice on Sunday at a parking lot of a grocery store while he was holidaying on California
