Japanese Prime Minister's Special Advisor Dr. Izumi Due In Colombo Later This Month To Discuss Revision Of Travel Advisory

Japanese Prime Minister's Special Advisor, Dr Hiroto Izumi, is expected to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe later this month, political sources said.

The Prime Minister is set to discuss revision of the travel advisory by Japanese Government during the meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo said.

The Japanese Foreign Affairs Ministry had issued a travel advisory on April 26 after the deadly Easter Sunday bombings which claimed over 250 lives. This travel advisory requested the citizens of Japam to avoid non-essential and non-urgent travel to the island.

Meanwhile, Japan also entered into a tripartite agreement with Sri Lanka and India to develop the East Container Terminal (ECT) of the Colombo Port. This will also be discussed during Dr. izumi's visit to Sri Lanka.
