Retired Air Force Commander And Civil Society Leader Critical Of President Rewarded With Diplomatic Postings

Former Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Kapila Jayampathy has been appointed Sri Lanka's High Commissioner for Malaysia.

Jayampathy retired from service recently and Sumangala Dias succeeded him as the Air Force Commander.

Meanwhile, President's Counsel J.C. Weliamuna has been appointed Sri Lanka's High Commissioner for Australia.

Weliamuna, a member of civil society groups, has been severely critical of President Sirisena's behavior since the outbreak of the political crisis last year. Foreign Ministry sources said the two appointments were made following the recommendations by President Maithripala Sirisena
