A person who was hospitalised after being shot at by a soldier on duty at a school in Akmeemana, has died in hospital, the Police Media Unit said.

The soldier had opened fire on the man after the latter attempted to enter the school forcibly, defying orders by security officers.

The man has been identified as a 39-year-old person.
