Senior DIG Nandana Munasinghe Questioned By Special Investigations Unit Over Security Lapses Leading To Easter Sunday Attacks

Senior DIG Nandana Munasinghe has been questioned by the Police Special Investigations Unit over security lapses leading to the Easter Sunday attacks.

Munasinghe was in charge of the security in Western Province at the time the Easter Sunday explosions took place.

Police sources said Munasinghe gave a lengthy statement to the Special Investigations Unit over the incident.

The Panel of Inquiry appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena recommended to take disciplinary and criminal action against nine senior Police officers, including Munasinghe, over the Easter Sunday explosions.

Accordingly, he was transferred to the North Central province.
