Attorney General Refuses To Appear For Hemasiri And Pujith In FR Cases Over Easter Sunday Attacks: Hearing Postponed To July 25

The Attorney General did not appear before former Defence Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara in the Fundamental Petitions filed against them in relation to the Easter Sunday attacks.

The cases were taken up before a 7-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, at the Supreme Court this morning.

Justices Buwaneka Aluwihare, Murdu Fernando, Sisira de Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena, Prasanna Jayawardena and L.T.B. Dehideniya were the other members of the bench.

Hearing of petitions against former Defence Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara was postponed till July 25. The bench informed the respondents to file their objections before the next hearing of the case.
