Owner Of 'VIP Defender' Identified As Maths Tutor Dinesh Amaratunga: No Police Arrests Thus Far: Bodyguards Disappeared After Assault?

The owner of the 'VIP Defender' which was involved in a brawl in Kalagedihena yesterday has been identified as an individual named Dinesh Amaratunga.

A Van driver was assaulted by a group of "VIP bodyguards" who came in two Defenders. The victim was assaulted by the group for not making way for the two Defenders.

The owner of one of the defenders is Amaratunga who identifies himself as a Mathematics tutor and an 'engineer'. He also conducts educational programmes on a couple of privately-owned TV stations.

The Defenders bearing the numbers CAD 8850 and CAG 0550 have not been taken into custody by the Police thus far and the bodyguards have apparently 'disappeared' after the incident.

The van driver who came under assault has lodged a complaint with the Police Emergency Unit on the incident.

The Police, however, are yet to arrest the VIP bodyguards who carried out the assault.
