Kurunegala DIG Kithsiri Jayalath, who was involved in the investigation into Dr. Shafi Shiyabdeen, has been transferred to Puttalam.

The Police Commission has approved the transfer today, top police source said.

Although the Police Commission approved Jayalath's transferred last week, the decision was reversed within 24 hours as two members of the commission were not in favour of the move.

Acting IGP Chandana Wickremaratne initiated the transfer to ensure a fair probe into the controversy surrounding Dr. Shafi's arrest.
