Presidential Aspirant Sajith Premadasa And His Allies Stoically Silent On President's Arbitrary Decision To Take Over Rupavahini

September 10, 2019

UNP Presidential aspirant Sajith Premadasa and his major backers have remained stoically silent about President Maithripala Sirisena's arbitrary decision to take over the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

Premadasa's supports including Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Harsha de Silva, Ajith P. Perera and Harin Fernando are yet to utter a word about the President's Gazette notification which brought the SLRC under the control of the Defence Ministry.

De Silva and Samaraweera are two of the most outspoken government members on social media platforms.

It has been reported that the Premadasa group are acting in sync with President Sirisena's political agenda.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake have also maintained silence on the matter, thus far.

The only official government statement so far has come from non-Cabinet Minister of Media Ruwan Wijewardena who accuses President Sirisena on thwarting his attempts at reviving the loss-making state-run TV station.
