Prime Minister Will Not Appear Before Presidential Commission Probing Bribery And Corruption Today: PM's Statement Due On September 16

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will not appear before the Presidential Commission probing bribery and corruption during the period between 2015 and 2018 today.

The Prime Minister's Secretary has informed the Commission that Wickremesinghe will not be able to appear before the commission on September 12 due to other commitments.

The commission has hen asked the Prime Minister to appear before the commission on September 16.

The Prime Minister is expected to issue a statement on the lease agreement of the Agriculture Ministry building in Rajagiriya, owned by actress Sabeetha Perera.

The current government leased the building for the Agriculture Ministry at an exorbitant rate of Rs. 21 million a month.

Prime Minister's Secretary Saman Ekanayake and former Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake have already given statements to the Presidential Commission on the matter.
