NDF Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa said he would proudly wear the 'Pad Man' label, given to him by his political opponents.

Premadasa's political opponents circulated a social media post describing him as "Pad Man" after the latter promised to provide sanitary products free of charge.

The post likened Premadasa to Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad-making machine.

"If we are serious about women's empowerment, this is a basic place to begin. Until sustainable cost-effective alternatives are found, I stand by my promise to provide sanitary hygiene products free of charge," Premadasa said today.
