Government Medical Officers Association President Anuruddha Padeniya has not been appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Health.

A massive social media campaign was launched by GMOA supporters earlier this week, justifying Padeniya's possible appointment to the post.

However, former Customs Director General S.M. Charles has been appointed the Secretary to the Ministry of Health.

Former Ports Authority Chairman Priyath Bandu Wickrema has been appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Urban Development and Water Supply.
