President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's first budget will be presented to Parliament after the next Parliamentary election, top government sources said.

The previous government has already passed a suplementary estimate for the first four months of next year.

A senior government spokesman said a supplementary estimate would be presented to the House if an immediate requirement for money cropped up. However, the current government is still short of a working majority in Parliament.

The spokesman said the SLPP was certain about its victory at the next Parliamentary election.
