President To Leave For India Today For First Foreign Visit After Assuming Office

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will leave for India today to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The President will be joined by a delegation comprising Secretary to the President P.B. Jayasundara, Foreign Ministry Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha and Treasury Secretary S.R. Attygalle.

This will be Rajapaksa's first foreign visit after assuming duties as the President of Sri Lanka.

The President met the Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar who arrived in Colombo for a short visit today.

He was the first high-profile foreign delegate to meet the newly-elected Sri Lankan President.
