Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne, who was admitted to a private hospital in Colombo yesterday, has been arrested by the CID.

CID officers last night obtained a statement from Senaratne while the latter was undergoing treatment.

Senaratne was admitted to the Cardiology Unit of the hospital yesterday due to a "sudden illness".

An arrest warrant was issued on the former Minister by the Colombo Additional Magistrate over the controversial " white van" press conference before the last Presidential election.

Two individuals who appeared alongside Senaratne at the same press conference have already been arrested by the Police.
