Police Investigations On Those Who Called Nimalka And FMM Convener Seeking Puppies

The Fort Police has begun an investigation into a complaint lodged by human rights activist Dr.Nimalka Fernando alleging that her mobile number and Free Media Movement secretary Sunil Jayasekara's contact number had been displayed in the posters to indicate that puppies are to be sold.

She told police that she was constantly receiving calls from the prospective buyers who asking puppies for sale.

She also told police that some persons have intentionally carried out this poster campaign to cause inconvenience to her.

When the matter came up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage, he ordered the police to conduct investigation into the incident through the telephone calls given to Fernando by anonymous callers.

However police told court that the persons who put up posters were recorded on the CCTV camera set up at Fort railway station.
