Admiral Colombage Appointed Presidential Adviser On Maritime And Naval Hub

Chairman of the Ceylon Shipping Corporation and Former Commander of the Navy, Admiral Jayanath Colombage has been appointed as the "Adviser to the President on Maritime and Naval Hub," with effect from 15th August 2014.

In accordance with the "Mahinda Chinthana Policy Manifesto-Vision for the Future" country envisages to be a regional Maritime Hub on her way forward to be the 'Wonder of Asia".

"Maritime and Naval Hub" takes a prominent place among those five sectors. While Admiral Colombage was performing duties as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, he actively contributed steering Sri Lanka's journey towards becoming a Maritime and Naval Hub.

Having a tremendous naval career spanning for over 36 years he is really an expert in the field of Maritime affairs. He also has been conferred with two Masters Degrees and presently reading for his Doctorate in philosophy.

With his enormous knowledge and professional expertise, his contribution to the new portfolio will be of immense importance at a time when the island-nation is poised to be key Maritime Hub in the region in her quest to be the 'Wonder of Asia'.
