The Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), the Jathika Hela Urumaya and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) have pledged support to the alliance led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.

Issuing a statement this evening, the three parties said they would throw their weight behind Premadasa's Alliance at the upcoming Parliamentary election.

The three parties are constituent parties of the United National Front (UNF).

However, there is a sharp difference of opinion between Premadasa's group and the UNP Working Committee over the symbol of the new alliance.
