Health Authorities Request Not To Allow Public Transport For Two More Weeks: Serious Questions About Transportation Of Workers Who Do Not Own Vehciles

Director General of Health Services Anil Jasinghe has informed the Transport Minister not to commence public transport for another two weeks due to the threat of COVID19.

However, the government has announced that state and private sector offices will reopen tomorrow after a two-month lockdown.

Serious questions have been raised about the transportation of workers who do not have vehicles on their own.

The government has instructed offices to ensure that only the essential workers report to work and facilitate social distancing during work hours.

The curfew will continue in the Western Province although people will be permitted to report to work.
