Mangala Leaves CID After Giving Statement On Financing To Take Displaced Muslims From Puttalam To Mannar For Voting

Former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera has left the CID after providing a statement for the second day.

Samaraweera was questioned on the alleged misuse of CTB buses to transport Puttalam voters during the 2019 Presidential election.

The former Finance Minister is under investigation for authorizing financing to take 12,500 displaced Muslims from Puttalam to Mannar for voting at the presidential election.

Samaraweera had allegedly authorised to pay the SLTB depot to provide transportation to these displaced persons in Puttalam to cast their votes.

Former Minister and ACMC Leader Rishad Bathiudeen has also been questioned by the CID over the same investigation.
