Ex-Indian Minister Says Arrest Of Sri Lankan Shows Failure Of Intel Agencies

The arrest of a Sri Lankan national in Chennai for allegedly spying for Pakistan pointed to the 'failure' of the central and state intelligence agencies, former Union minister GK Vasan said on today, Indian media has reported.

He has also stressed that the intelligence agencies should coordinate with Coast Guard and police for effective vigil.

On September 10, a Sri Lankan national Arun Selvarajan was arrested in Chennai by National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the charge of spying on behalf of Pakistan.

GK Vasan was the Union Minister of Shipping in the United Progressive Alliance government and is a Congress Party member of Tamil Nadu. He opted out of the Lok Sabha Elections this year.
