Producers of Tamil Film Kaththi Deny Links With Rajapaksa Family

September 17, 2014

The producers of actor Vijay’s new, soon-to-be-released film Kaththi issued a clarification about what they termed a misinformation campaign by some vested interests against the production company.

At a packed press conference held in Chennai on Tuesday, Lyca Group of Companies Chairman Subaskaran Allirajah, denied he had any business links with the Rajapaksa family, according to Indian media. He cited a few incidents where the group was portrayed wrongly in a section of the local media.

Regarding an image of the logo of Lycamobiles appearing in the background at the Sri Lanka-sponsored Commonwealth Business Forum, Subaskaran had alleged that the image was ‘morphed.’ The company has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime division of the Chennai City Police.

Subaskaran has also denied rumours that the producers were planning to sell the movie, addingd that there was no such move and that they plan to produce Hindi movies too.

Media reports said that the audio launch of Kaththi is expected to be held on September 18.
