Wimal Warns Of Conspiracies To Divide The Sinhalese Votes

September 28, 2014

Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa has said that ‘external forces’ are conspiring to break the Sinhalese voter base to pieces along religious and political party lines, thereby to take the country to anarchy.

He made these comments at an event to handover a newly built house to a low income family in Homagama.

Weerawansa said certain opposition groups who cannot stand the progress the country is making under the UPFA government want to disrupt the work of the government by dividing its vote base. They have sensed a new opportunity with reports of a presidential election being circulated.

Weerawansa has also said that ‘foreign forces’ were also waiting for a chance to divide the Sinhalese voters along party and religious lines.
