Geetha Kumarasinghe's Chief Ministerial Dreams Shattered

Geetha Kumarasinghe, who was campaigning hard to be the Chief Minister of the Southern Province, found her dreams shattered when she realized that she had only managed to become the 8th on the UPFA list.

Sources from Galle said Kumarasinghe was annoyed when she came to know that she had only obtained 26932 votes.

Shan Wijayalal de Silva, who is tipped to be appointed as the Chief Minister of the South, obtained 95860 votes. G. Ariyathilaka became second to the former Chief Minister with 48289 votes.

Kumarasinghe contested the Parliamentary Election in 2010 but failed to secure a seat. Government sources said Kumarasinghe might not get a ministerial position in the council.
