SAARC Leaders Wish MR For January Elections

Several Leaders of the SAARC region have extended wishes to President Mahinda Rajapaksa for the upcoming Presidential Election in January, 2015.

The leaders have made their wishes to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Twitter social media while they were taking part in the SAARC summit in Nepal.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted, “"President Rajapaksa will soon go into (re-election) & I wish him good luck."

Meanwhile, President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen tweeted, "It is our sincere hope & prayer that you get re-elected with a landslide victory."

President of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay has tweeted, “You don't need my good luck but I wish you good luck. I know you will win.”

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday thanked Mahinda Rajapaksa for pardoning and sending back the five Indian fishermen who were given death sentences in Sri Lanka.

The two leaders met yesterday in Kathmandu, Nepal, on the sidelines of the 18th SAARC Summit. They discussed matters of mutual importance.

The Sri Lankan President also held a number of bilateral discussions with leaders of the South Asian Region on the sidelines of the 18th SAARC Summit in Nepal.
