"There Are More To Come" : Wimal

December 09, 2014

Minister Wimal Weerawansa said yesterday that there were more people from the opposition to defect to the government’s side but the names cannot be revealed.

Speaking at a meeting in Maharagama yesterday, he added that Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga’s conspiracy to topple the government is ending up in a naught.

He said that a General Secretary’s defection has been cancelled by the other General Secretary. Similarly, the only parliamentarian of Sarath Fonseka’s party had also defected. There will be more to come. CBK promised many will come to the opposition, but that promised number did not defect and others in the opposition are coming towards the government side, disillusioned with the state of the affairs, he added.

Weerawansa also said that if Ranil Wickremesinghe had contested, UNPers in the villages would have given a fight. But now the fight is not seen on the ground, but on Facebook, he added. On Facebook Maithripala Sirisena is winning by a landslide but on the ground his campaign is in a poor state, Weerawansa said.
