Bathiudeen Charges 10000 Muslim IDPs Barred From Voting

Former Minister and Leader of the ACMC Rishad Bathiudeen charged that nearly 10,000 Muslim IDP s were prevented from voting today due to transport issues.

Although 20 buses were arranged by the Elections Commissioner to facilitate their transport, the former Minister alleged that a politician of the UPFA blocked them. The IDPs, according to sources, had to travel to Manar to cast their votes.

However, our reporters in Puttalam said some of the IDPs were using three wheelers and other means of transport to travel to puttalam.

A spokesperson of the ACMC said they had taken measures to lodge a complaint with the Elections Department over the matter.
