Nimal Siripala Appointed Opposition Leader

Badulla District Parliamentarian Nimal Siripala de Silva was appointed as opposition leader at the SLFP parliamentary group meeting a short while ago.

Born in 1944, de Silva was Leader of the Opposition of the Colombo Municipal Council from 1983 to 1989. Elected as a Member of Parliament in 1989 from Colombo District and re-elected  from the same District in 1994, he later contested and entered parliament from Badulla District.

Meanwhile WDJ Seneviratne was appointed Chief opposition whip by the SLFP parliamentary group. Born in 1941, Seneviratne has also represented the parliament from 1989.
