Bribery Complaint Filed Against Chief Justice Over Dockyard Case

A complaint of a criminal offence of corruption was today filed against Chief Justice Mohan Peiris for alledgely causing a colossal loss of government revenue of over Rs.619 million by an attorney-at-law before Bribery and Corruption commission.

Attorney-at-law Nagananda Kodituwakku making his complaint before bribery commission alleged that Peiris unlawfully attempted cover up customs inquiry against Colombo Dockyard Ltd (CDL).

The Lawyer alleged that when the matter came up before Supreme Court in 2009 then Attorney Generally Peiris refused to proceed with the court action initiated by the Solicitor General.

He requested Bribery commission to initiate credible investigation into this complaint that refers to a deceitful and fraudulent act commited by Peiris causing a loss of govt revenue amounting to Rs.619 million.
