Minister of Housing and Samurdhi Sajith Premadasa said that he will call for an international audit on his ministry to investigate certain 'irregularities' that have taken place in the recent years.

He said that the audit will be a major scale one carried out with the objective of lowering inefficiency within the ministry. He added that the Ministry should undergo a massive change.

Premadasa said that the Housing Ministry was once his father's ministry and since then no one has done the job in a proper manner.

Meanwhile, at a recent meeting in Hambantota, Premadasa alleged that the former government of Mahinda Rajapaksa used substantial sums of Samurdhi assets for election campaigning.

Premadasa assumed duties as the Minister of Housing and Samurdhi on January 22.
