Politicians of the United People's Freedom Alliance Prasanna Ranatunga, T.B Ekanayake, Salinda Dissanayake, Manusha Nanayakkara, Kumara Welgama, C.B Rathnayake and Jayantha Katagoda attending the political rally in Nugegoda which was organized to support former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The rally was organized by parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa, Dinesh Gunawardena, Vasudewa Nanayakkara and PC member Udaya Gammanpila.

However, other leftist coalition partners of the UPFA, including the LSSP and the Communist Party, did not take part in the rally.

A stauch supporter of Rajapaksa and former diplomat Dayan Jayatilleke was also present at the event. A large crowd was seen at the rally and roads in and around Nugegoda were blocked due to the event.
