Tilvin Says National Government Concept Is Against People's Mandate

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that the national government concept is against the mandate given by the people on January 8th.

Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday he said that discussion about a national government acts as a hindrance to the achievement of goals in 100 Days Program.

Silva added that JVP would not oppose the formation of a national government. However he asked the government to implement the promised constitutional changes and to call for elections in Aril as planned.

Siva said that once the election is held, a parliament in accordance with the mandate given on January 8 will be elected. The current parliament was elected in April 2010. It still has a majority of United People's Freedom Alliance members even though Maithripala Sirisena won the presidential election.

Siva also said that some SLFP leaders were trying to sabotage the 100 Days Program.
