Sangakkara Becomes Second Batsman To Join ODI 14,000 Club

Kumar Sangakkara became only the second player to reach 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals in the 2015 World Cup Cricket match against Australia a short while ago.

Sangakkara started the game with 39 runs short of this milestone. Prior to this game, he had batted in 377 innings in 401 ODI games and had 13,961 runs at an average of 41.55.

India's Sachin Tendulkar leads the list of ODI scorers with 18,426 ODI runs in 463 matches at a run rate of 44.83.

Sangakkara joined the team in 2000 and has been a key player both as a wicketkeeper and a batsman. He scored unbeaten back-to-back centuries against Bangladesh and England before today's game in Sydney Cricket Ground.

Sri Lanka is chasing a mammoth total of 376-9 posed by Australia and were 119-1 in 17 overs a short while ago.
